None other than Glass

I recently worked on a presentation for college about glass. I learned about the earliest form, how its made into different products but mostly how incredibly beautiful it is. Glass has been around from the earliest of time starting with Obsidian, which I am sure you are familiar with as a gemstone in the jewelry world =). We have since over the years created works of art along with millions of beautiful and creative versions for personal and professional use in building and design. I have always been fascinated by different types of glass and how its used and made, so I decided to do a little post about the very popular glass tile. Glass tiles come in a variety of styles and shapes and can come in sheets for easy installation. The variety of colors they now range in is absolutely breath taking. These are such a great way to add that little "umph" into your space without the hassle of having to paint or remodel the whole room. I have some examples I found that I think are so beautiful and unique! Let it inspire you and maybe you will add your own glass tile design to your home.

The iconic kitchen backsplash! This is a great way to add a little color to your boring kitchen walls. Or if your trying to update your outdated kitchen this is a great simple way to start.

Most people know about putting glass tile in the bathroom, it just makes sense. This is an absolutely beautiful and breathtaking example of how simple glass tile can make your space look super chic. This sea green tile not only brings in so much light into the room but it adds so much elegance into the bathroom by making it a focal point. Such a beautiful design.

Here is another example of a great focal making the main wall in the bathroom much more interesting. It can also help tie in the other theme color in the bathroom.

This is more of a non-conventional way to use glass tiles. Make you living area more elegant, placing the tiles around a fireplace makes it interesting and gives it something extra without having to paint of install any fancy stone.

This is a fun way to use glass tiles! Love the little color splash on the wooden table.

This is a very cool way to add something different to your bathroom. Don't like the look of regular glass tile? How about heat responsive color changing tile! It changes color when there are temperature changes. Super fun and great for the querky design lovers =D

Christmas Time is Here!!

The holidays are fast approaching and it's time to start decking the halls with your Christmas cheer! This is the time of year you drag out all your comfie, cozy and wintery decorations and make your home into a walking talking example of the holidays! But don't get crazy haha! You can still have some great decorations without completely enveloping your house in blow-up snowmen and colored string lights.... Which by the way, don't do. I've gathered some great and simple ideas for you to decorate your home and keep it classy this winter so that your family and everyone else can enjoy the Christmas cheer =)

Here is a simple and beautiful way to decorate the outside of your home. Some garland with lights and red or burgundy bows. This is so beautiful and simple without having to put to much effort into it, especially if you are not one to get up on the roof to hang icicle lights.

This is a super creative idea for a wreath! Take an old picture frame paint it and hang some Christmas bulbs in the center. This is a great way to do something different and still have something Christmasy hanging on your door.

Banisters are beautiful when they are decorated with garland and lights. This is a really simple way to give your stairway a complete and appealing look without having to decorate everything in your hallway or entry room.

This has always been a favorite of mine; hanging your stockings above the fireplace. This is such a traditional way to decorate and keep it simple and functional. You can also add a little garland with candles for a little added Christmas cheer.

This is such a cute project for the kids to get involved with! Snow flakes out of little fake tree stems. This is a creative and fun way to have the kids help out with the decorating, and the best part is they hang in the windows so everyone can see what they made.

Another great idea for the kids to get involved with is these cute little candy canes hanging from ribbons. Again this is super simple and a great way to get the kids involved in helping decorate for the holidays. Plus after they holidays are over they can look forward to eating them =)

As I am sure most of you have a tree to decorate, I wanted to post this picture because I love that it is very classy looking there aren't actually too many ornaments on the tree because of the shapes and lengths. It's balanced and also has a good color balance. So this is just an idea for those of you that have no idea what to hang on your tree.

This is a great idea for people who can fit a tree in there home. This little homemade tree is a great way to save space but still have something to decorate. This is just simply a tree drawn on what looks like either paper bag or burlap. As you can see in the picture the kids are still able to decorate this little drawn tree with some lights and bulbs.

This is an awesome idea for both the kids and for people who don't have room for a fake or real Christmas tree. These are handmade snowflakes that are hung to make look like a little tree. This is a perfect way to let your kids be a part of the decorating and to give them something to be proud of when they look at the tree they helped to create. Absolutely love this idea!

I hope you all decorate your houses beautifully this year and maybe even use some of these new ideas to help you out while you do. Have a wonderful time decorating for the holidays and Merry Christmas!

October goes to...!! :D

As I am sure everyone is well aware, the month of October is always Breast Cancer Awareness month. Making extra sure everyone is getting there exams and also doing monthly even weekly self exams to increase the awareness and knowledge about this very dangerous and unfortunate disease. I wanted to make a post to dedicate awareness to others as well and also put some ideas up if your wanting to do some creative decorating to also spread awareness to others! =) I am sure all of you are wearing your little ribbons or wearing pink this month so here are some other ways to be supportive and creative!

Here is a super cute idea if you are thinking about having a Breast Cancer Awareness party or gathering of any kind! Hand dipped strawberries with little ribbon and pink decorations.

Adorable and also helpful! Welcome mats are always used to wipe your feet before you enter the home and is usually the first thing you look at before you enter through the door, why not remind your guests about the seriousness of breast cancer while they are wiping their feet!

Here is a great way to add a little something to your home while still supporting the cause. Quilts are a great thing to have in your home and can have anything on them you want! Why not make it for breast cancer awareness!? You can use it when you get a little cold on those winter nights or drape it during the month of October any where you think it will be seen! You could even hang it on the wall or put it in your car!

These two wreaths are great ways to put a little notification on your door for breast cancer. You can hand make them which is the great thing about these DIY projects, there are so many possibilities with what you can use and put into these creations! The top one uses buttons and the bottom ribbons. There are endless options for the creations!!

Lastly if you just want something very subtle and your not looking to create a huge thing out of it or make something there are plenty of pink ribbons to put on your car. They make everything for this cause.

Everyone please, be aware this month and EVERY month. Ladies AND gentlemen, you aren't excluded men, you can get breast cancer too its just not as common, still be aware! Know yourself, get your check ups and do self exams. More people catch cancer themselves because you know your body better than your doctor and lives can be saved! Save a life spread awareness and information to people, tell them about the seriousness of this disease. Someday it may save their life.

Paint Swatches!

I was thinking about paint swatches the other day, (haha I know totally random!), because they are a great way to make a cheap piece of art for your space. I know your probably thinking "they are just pieces of colored paper"... Exactly!! You can make so many things with a little imagination and some scissors! I found some really awesome examples of things you can create with these little color palettes! Hope it sparks your own creativity!

This is my all time favorite swatch art piece!! Even though it takes up a good portion of the wall it isn't gaudy or tacky. They used lights and darks to add contrast which make this a great focal wall for your room!

This would make such a cute piece for a little girls room! Its girly yet if your not into the whole putting Disney Princess all over the walls you have this! This is even a great idea to do as an artwork for your house if you have some frames you would like to use you could make a little abstract piece of art and hang it on the wall!

This one is a really neat idea. Putting little boarders around each one. Now I would have made a picture out of them for this however this is a cool abstract piece. You could take the idea and make whatever you wanted!

This is another great idea for a little play room for the kids! Just keep in mind it doesn't have to be a rainbow! Your can take the swatches and create a whole wall of something a girl and a boy would enjoy or even create characters or different shapes to make a unisex wall design.

Love the colors chosen in this picture! Looks like a peacock feather! You could make a bunch of these in various complimentary colors to put into a picture collage on a wall.

This is an awesome idea!! You really have to have a good eye for this fantastic wall art! If you like the idea of one focal wall with the rest of the room being mostly plain to make it stand out then this is your design! This is a beautiful way to make a statement in your home and have a classy and interesting conversation piece!

I hope this has maybe got your imagination going a bit! I love little things like paint swatches that can be turned into something completely extraordinary!

Back to School! :D

Its that time again! All the kids go back to school to learn and grow. It can be an exciting time but also very hectic and messy =/! Yuck! No one likes to have to try to explain to your teacher why you don't have your homework assignment! (and 'my dog ate it' is kinda old..) So get organized this year with some of these great ideas for your home! Not only will you have everything in its own place but everyone will have there own spot for their things and there can be no excuses for their homework missing! (way to go moms!!)

Making a chart is a great way for kids to see what the need to get done and also set goals. You could even make it a game and see who can get done the fastest and be neat and correct!

You can never have too many labels! Label everything that needs a place and you can go right to it and use it!

This is a fantastic idea for those of you that need a little extra help being organized and seeing it. Each kid has their own board, items to do and also a place to hang there bag everyday so its neat organized and never lost!

A cool way to organize you mud room! Keeping it adult but also easy for kids to use and read.

Mom's, keep yourselves organized as well!! All those paper they bring home from school and forms you have to keep and things they buy that have receipts, keep them organized!! This is a great way for easy access to all those items. That way if there are any issues with the school you can go to it and pull it out. So easy!

Here's a cool kitchen chart! Great place for calenders and schedules so they are easy to reach and look at and you know where to go and what to do!

Unique DIY Works!

Do you ever look around and think you're missing something but you don't want to buy anything to much just to satisfy your craving? Well here are some great and easy DIY ways to add that little something to your space with out going over board!

Take some vintage buttons or dresser hardware and place them on a cool piece of wood!

This is a unique piece. Take mason jars and string them to make a chandelier!

I love this one!! Take an old fence and some pieces of wood and make a pan wrack for your ceiling.

This first one is just a creative way to hang your wine glasses and get the rustic feel to your space. Along with the next one which again uses mason jars to get yourself organized.
The last picture here is a great way to make little tea light for around your home! So easy and you can make as many as your little heart desires and in any color you wish! Just keep dipping!

Chalkboard Paint!

Have you ever yelled at your kids for drawing on the walls or know someone who has? Well no more! There is this great thing now called chalkboard paint, and you can actually paint your wall with it and the kids can scribble away! You'll never have to worry about ruined walls. There is a bunch of different creative things you can do with it also, you don't have to paint your wall if that's not your thing.

You can paint the kids room door! They can put there drawings up make little sayings like "No Boys/Girls Allowed!" (Always my favorite HA), you can even choose to make a chore list on the door and have them erase when they finish it.

Here's a great idea if you don't like the look of the painted wall, build a shape out of wood and paint the front, let them use their imagination to draw in what it should be!

The bottom half of the hallway wall is a great place to put chalkboard paint. They can easily reach and they can put up drawings for your guess' that come into the house.

I think this is the most creative yet! For those of you with a little artistic side you can draw a face on a clipboard and let this kids draw in the face!

This is a cool idea for them to customize their piggy banks the way they want. They could even do little money signs =)

I love this idea here. More localized so you don't have to really change the look of anything you have. Paint the top of a round table with a hole in the middle for chalk and move to where ever the kids want.

Last but not least, paint the bottom portion of your kitchen island for kids to draw while your cooking or to put a menu or even draw different foods for a different look to the room.

All of these are great ideas to keep your kids busy and out of trouble! You'll never have to scrub your good walls again because they'll have their own to draw on!
